Growing up in Orange County and playing guitar in numerous punk bands including Apathy Cycle, Chris grew frustrated with America’s politics and tried to move to Canada in 2017. Canada would have none of it, so he had to settle for the next best thing. Newly transplanted to Bellingham, WA, he met bassist Bryan and the band’s first drummer, Jeff, downtown for drinks. Jamming ensued at Chris’s pad without expectations.
It quickly became obvious that Chris and Bryan brought skills and interests to the table that, while highly divergent, complemented the overall sound that started bothering Chris’ neighbors. Bryan’s tastes were rooted in the metal, thrash, and goth sounds of the 1980s (often venturing into the heavy blues influences of earlier pioneers such as Black Sabbath and Judas Priest), while Chris was a connoisseur of the weirdest offerings that punk, metal, and everything in between had to offer.

Enter Derek Miller. After Jeff moved out of state, Derek assumed drumming duties after leaving Monstress, an avant-garde sci-fi metal band also hailing from Bellingham. His powerful, multi-faceted, hybrid approach to drumming became the glue that finally tied everything together. With his contributions, the whole became the sum of its parts through intuition, collaboration, and persistence.
One thing was certain: there would be no Done to Death songs containing the trite, bubblegum themes of romance, adolescence, petty crime, or materialism. This would be a Punk/Alt Metal sound that attacks politics, social and financial inequity, the dire consequences of wasteful consumerism, and a myriad of contemporary issues begging to be screamed at.
